How effective are Salon Facials ?

Salon Facials treatment imageA question we are often asked is:

“Are Monthly Spa / Salon Facials as effective and beneficial as having a monthly clinical facial treatment ?”

Well, a lot has changed in the beauty industry and the divide between some salon facials and clinical treatments has diminished to the point that in many cases there is no difference in the benefits to your skin.

Yes, you still have some beauty treatment brands that offer a superficial facial treatment that is purely aimed at relaxing the client. But, if that is not what you are looking for then enter the new breed of spa and beauty salon facials.

Today’s customer focused Beauty Salons offer more affordable solutions as opposed to clinical facials. Treatments are results driven and individually tailored providing many of the impressive benefits that can be obtained with equivalent clinical treatments but are often less expensive.

Modern Beauty salons have evolved into advanced skin centers and medi-spas that now offer advanced salon facials and other treatments.

You can expect to see traditional and increasingly more advanced electrical technologies offered such as:

  • Microdermabrasion facials.
  • Enzyme Facials.
  • Advanced exfoliating Facials.
  • Electrical Facials.
  • Radio frequency Facial treatments.
  • Iontophoresis.
  • Mesotherapy.
  • Cryogenic Facials.
  • Skin needling Facials.
  • Skin peels.

… and many more treatments.

At Studio 8 Beauty we are excited to see how the industry is changing and the increasing range of new Salon Facials that are becoming available. The Professional shows are packed with new technologies, equipment and courses that are raising the bar in the industry. The beauty profession is evolving and it is an amazing place to be as emerging new advanced non-surgical treatments, which were once kept to the elite, are now becoming affordable and available to everyone.

Take our chosen skin brand Dermalogica for example. Therapists are trained from certified through to Expert level and because of this Professional Expert level, treatments are emerging such as peels and skin resurfacing treatments. Products are used with the same caution and care as a clinic and Salons have to follow the same insurance requirements before they can offer these treatments.

The difference now is that you get a caring and prescriptive approach with increased emphasis on care and attention including aftercare designed to ensure that the results you get are the best for your skin.

The products that are used in Dermalogica in their skin peels, for example, are just as effective as the traditional clinical glycolic peels. However, Dermalogica chose to focus on a solution that reduces the impact on the skin that the traditional TCA and Glycolic facials normally have. With this as their focus, they developed a pharmaceutically enhanced product that uses a combination of lactic acid and salicylic acid. It’s just as effective as glycolic but because it has smaller molecules than glycolic the skin gets results without the usual downtime and redness.  A win – win situation. Read our article on skin peels for more information.

A good quality salon facial will always offer a results driven experience. There are treatments available that will change the physical appearance of the skin as well as the deeper layers, something you may not have expected a spa or salon facial to achieve. Expect treatments such as this to work equally as well deep down in the dermis. As a result, they improve the texture of the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles similar to an equivalent category clinical peel that you’ll find offered in many clinics.

So if you need a facial to provide real results for anti-ageing or problem skin, you don’t have to sacrifice your favourite monthly beauty salon experience, just ask your Skin care therapist what they can do for you, because the odds are they have just the treatment for you.

Quote of the Day

“The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known struggle, known loss and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness and a deep loving concern. BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE DO NOT JUST HAPPEN”
